REVIEW SKI WORLD CUP IN LECH ZÜRS
After 26 years, the Ski World Cup returned to Lech Zürs.
On 26 and 27 November 2020, two parallel races in the giant slalom took place in the newly built Flexenarena in Zürs.
Unfortunately, due to the situation around Covid-19, no spectators were allowed.
The organizers also look back on the World Cup with satisfaction and would like to thank all the helpers and organizers for the perfect handling in all areas.
Last but not least, the high temperatures of the piste crew have not made it easy. In the end, however, the piste was in excellent condition and perfectly prepared until the last runner.
The start was on November 26, 2020 with the women's qualification, in which each participant started once in the red and once in the blue course and both times were added up. The 16 best made it to the final round, which was in the knockout stage. system has been discharged.
In a thrilling finale, Slovakian Petra Vlhova was able to live up to her favourite role and secured the victory. In the final she beat the surprise runner Paula Moltzan from the USA. Third place went to Lara Gut-Behrami from Switzerland. As the best Austrian, Elisa Mörzinger was able to secure the eighth place.
The next day, the men were at the start and fought exciting duels for the victory until the end. The Frenchman Alexis Pinturault won the competition. He won ahead of Henrik Kristoffersen of Norway and Alexander Schmid of Germany. Alexander Pertl from Austria secured fourth place.
